Car Hire Reviews Weston-Super-Mare

  • “The pick-up was easy, it took 5 minutes from arriving at the desk to driving out the car, and the return took even less time.”

Where to go

Weston-Super-Mare offers a fine, golden sandy beach and a wealth of traditional seaside amusements, not least on its Grand Pier. However, not all the best bits are on the seafront. A little inland is the Helicopter Museum, where fans of all things with rotor blades can see various historic models and see flying demonstrations.

Nearby Weston-Super-Mare

Bustling Bristol is 45 minutes away while historic Bath with its grand architecture and Roman baths is just over an hour away. The nearby Mendip hills Area of Outstanding Natural beauty lies very close and includes the caves at Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge.

Longer drives

South Wales lies across the Bristol Channel and drivers can take the M4 over the Severn Bridge to Cardiff in an hour and 20 minutes, while the historic Wiltshire stone circles at Avebury and Stonehenge are around an hour and a half away. Exmoor National Park is around an hour away.

Eating and drinking

There is nothing so traditionally English as having fish and chips at a seaside town, and there are plenty of chances to do that. The region is also famous as the home of Cheddar cheese. When it comes to drink, Somerset is also renowned for its cider, so be sure to try some.

Things to do

The simplest of seaside fun can be enjoyed on the beach with a bucket and spade, but there is plenty more to do too. Brean Theme Park lies just south of the town and includes loads of free rides, while on a wet day the Weston-Super-Mare museum is well worth seeing.

Sightseeing

The Grand Pier offers some great views out to sea and across the Bristol Channel, where Wales will be visible. Other local sights include the views from the Quantock Hills, such as Beacon hatch, the highest of the Mendips, while Cheddar Gorge is a spectacular valley famous for its cheese.
