Car hire at Bristol Airport

Bristol Airport (BRS) is an international hub in the southwest of England and the gateway to a fantastic city and the surrounding area of Somerset. The city centre lies less than ten miles from the airport and should not take more than 25 minutes to reach via the A370 when traffic is good.

What I need to know

When it comes to Bristol Airport car rental you have plenty of choice, with a large number of operators to choose from. From minis to estates and even convertibles, there’s the right car at the right price waiting for you. The best way to ensure you get the best deal is to compare car hire offers with our site.

Where to pick up my car

To find your Bristol Airport car hire company, head outside of the terminal and towards the signs for the short-stay car park. This is where the majority of the customer service desks are located. Firms that do not offer pick up at the terminal have free shuttle buses that will transport you to where you need to be without any hassle.

Where to go

Once you have picked up your hire car, you will be able to explore all of what Bristol has to offer. This port city has a rich history that has been capitalised upon to create a unique urban landscape with plenty to do. Enjoy its cultural institutions, fantastic eateries and the incredible works of engineering accomplished by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Nearby Bristol Airport

Just 45 minutes away by car from Bristol Airport is the town of Bath. It is as well-known for its stunning 18th-century Georgian architecture as its curing waters. Tour the original Roman-era baths and take a dip in the modern spa equivalent. Drive around half an hour in the opposite direction and reach the coast at Weston-super-Mare, which has been a popular seaside resort since Victorian times.

Longer drives

Venture a little further afield with your hire car and into Wales by crossing the Severn Bridge. The capital, Cardiff, is a wonderful place to discover and is steeped in history. Be sure to visit the castle, enjoy a Welsh cake and perhaps even catch a game of rugby at the Millennium Stadium. Staying within England, you could drive down to Devon or Cornwall and enjoy the seaside and a traditional cream tea.

Eating and drinking

The craft ale scene is thriving in Bristol and there are lots of places to go and enjoy a pint, especially around King Street. There’s no excuse not to line your stomach beforehand, as Bristol plays host to many fantastic restaurants and cafes. Some of these are housed within the historic buildings that used to serve the industries around the port and harbour, making for a wonderful backdrop.

Things to do

A visit to the SS Great Britain is a definite must-do while in Bristol, as this stunning ship has been return to her original drydock and is now a fascinating museum. For something a bit more modern, check out the contemporary art at Arnolfini, located within an old warehouse on the waterfront.

Sightseeing

The Clifton Suspension Bridge, another of Brunel’s incredible creations, sits high up above Bristol and is well worth a visit. Not only does the bridge provide an incredible vista, but it also occupies a position with stunning views. Then head to M Shed to find out more what life was like on the docks in Bristol in the 1950s.
