Car hire in Mexico
Car hire Mexico
Nestled between the USA to the north and Guatemala and Belize to the south-east, Mexico boasts warm weather, unbeatable historical sites and stunning sandy beaches. It is also a nation of contrasts, offering everything from snowy mountains to jungles and desert. That's why it's one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet.
What I need to know
Mexico car hire is easier than you might think, as there are big brand name companies operating out of all the major airports and cities. However, it's best to reserve your vehicle with us before you go, as firms out there may try to charge for hidden extras - we don't.
Where to pick up my car
The three biggest airports in Mexico are Mexico City International Airport, Cancun International Airport and Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport. Car hire desks are typically in the arrivals halls and should be clearly signposted. You'll also find car rental offices in the big cities, making pick-ups really easy.

Where to go
There's so much to see and do in Mexico, whether you want modern beach resorts like Cancun, colonial towns like San Cristobal de las Casas or ancient ruins like those in Mexico City.
You'll be able to explore the cultural highlights or sunbathe on the beaches by day, then enjoy the excellent nightlife each evening, making this the perfect holiday destination.
Nearby
Mexico car rental customers are likely to find that although toll roads are quite costly, they are better to drive on in terms of maintenance and speed. Don't be concerned to see Mexican Army checkpoints quite regularly. For safety reasons, it's best to drive during the daytime only - and beware of animals in the road.
Longer drives
Seeing Mexico by road is a great way to view some beautiful scenery and fascinating attractions. You can get to Ocotlan from Mexico City for the markets, as well as to Monte Alban for the ruins. From Cancun, it's possible to drive the Mayan Riviera to Tulum, while the Baja California is well worth exploring in the north.
Acapulco
Acapulco offers something for everyone and is ideal for families. You can view the death-defying feats of the La Quebrada Cliff Divers, or check out the CICI water park and its dolphinarium. For a quieter pace, stroll around the town square (Zocalo) to see the cathedral, fountains and bistro restaurants.
Cancun
Cancun is famed for its crystal-clear waters, dazzling beaches, fantastic restaurants and party atmosphere, but it is also the gateway to the Mayan world and you can find a number of temples and ruins there - don't miss the Chichen Itza. You can also check out the brilliant Interactive Aquarium.
Mexico City
The capital city of Mexico, this destination offers lots of attractions for tourists. You'll find the Aztec Templo Mayor; Chapultepec urban park with its many museums and a zoo; and the Aztec Xochimilco waterways, where you can enjoy a boat trip through the flower gardens. It's worth noting there are no beaches in Mexico City, though.
