If you want to lose yourself among the windy Roman streets, make your way to Centro Storico, where you will find many small local shops and authentic restaurants and tavernas.

Longer drives

Approximately an hour away from Rome centre via the SR2, is Calcata, a historic village standing over a cliff made of volcanic rock and surrounded by green forests. Why not take a day trip to Tivoli? The town is 30km from Rome, and is popular for its Renaissance style Villa d’Este - built in the 16th century - and it’s beautiful gardens. Tivoli’s thermal baths are also worth a visit.

The Colosseum

Needing no introduction, Rome’s Colosseum is a recognised symbol of Rome and was the largest amphitheater in the Roman Empire, holding up to 50,000 people. Of course, due to many centuries of neglect, parts of the Colosseum have now crumbled after it was used for a quarry until the eighteenth century.
