Dumfries offers plenty for tourists, whether you want sightseeing, retail therapy, outdoor pursuits or fun days out. For historical buildings, take a look at Great King Street, while poetry fans shouldn't miss Burns' Statue in the town centre. There's also Loreburn shopping centre for all the big-name high street brands.

There's also a plethora of castles and ruins, including beautiful Sweetheart Abbey. The rolling hills and countryside are worth a mention too, as they present excellent wildlife-spotting opportunities.
