If you can't get enough of historic cities, Cambridge is just over 90 minutes away from Derby.

Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is one of Derbyshire's highlights, with this majestic country seat (dating from 1707) and its beautiful gardens open to the public on certain days. Fellow stately homes Calke Abbey and Donington Park are also well worth a visit.

The Heights of Abraham offers cable car rides from which to see the sights over the stunning countryside, as well as tours of natural underground caverns and a fossil museum, taking you back to Derby's prehistoric days.
