Where to go

Once you’ve picked up the keys to your hire vehicle, it’s time to explore the island and discover what Ibiza has to offer.

Do you want a taste of the delicious Spanish cuisine? Or to relax with a cocktail on one of the island's many beautiful white sandy and palm tree lined beaches? Or perhaps you want to discover the history of the Las Salinas Salt Flats, one of Ibiza’s most famous landmarks? Whatever your age or interest, Ibiza really does have something for everyone.

Nearby Ibiza

If you want to throw yourself straight into the party scene, then head to Sant Antoni de Portmany, on the western coast of the island and the second biggest town in Ibiza, alternatively you could visit Playa d'en Bossa which is home to superclubs such as Space and Ushuaia.

For a little more variety, Ibiza Town is the port city which overlooks the Mediterranean and is the capital of Ibiza. It has something for everyone, including a wide selection of boutiques and designer labels for those who fancy a spot of shopping.

Las Salinas Salt Flats are located in the south of Ibiza and are a popular destination among tourists. The salt fields, which have now been in use for over 2,000 years, have water evaporate during the hot summer months, leaving a sparking layer of pure salt on the bottom of the lakes. Be sure to take your camera, as this is a great spot for getting a postcard-perfect picture.

Longer drives

An island self drive tour around the north of Ibiza has become popular in recent years and it allows you to see as much of Ibiza as you wish. Pack up your camera and swimming costume and follow a route from Ibiza Town to Santa Eulalia, which will take you on a scenic journey through the green and peaceful north, back down to Santa Gertrudis.

If you fancy visiting some of the island’s finest beaches, a road trip to the ‘mountain’ village of San Jose offers some spectacular views, beaches and a the perfect variety of traditional Spanish restaurants and bars to stop off for a refreshment.

During your road trip, which will take you along the 80km of coastline, make sure you look out for pink signs which point the way to Ibiza's important historic monuments or sights with stunning views.

Top attractions to visit in Ibiza

A trip to Ibiza would not be complete without visiting the islands top attractions, and with the freedom of having your own car, nowhere is out of bounds.

Can Marça caves

The Can Marça caves are beautifully preserved caves which can be found on the north of the island in the Port of Sant Miquel. Inside you will find ancient geological forms, with waterfalls and channels of waters which have been recovered over recent years. The natural surrounds of the cave really are unique, with stalagmites and stalactites forming over the years into figures and temples.

Authentic Spanish dishes

A trip to Spain, or any Spanish island, would not be complete without a taste of the delicious Spanish cuisine and their statement paella dish. Restaurants will usually allow an hour for paella to be cooked, to optimise the taste of saffron rice and your choice or either seafood or meat. Freshly caught seafood dishes are also popular in Ibiza, with many bars and restaurants serving a variety of fish. You will also easily find tapas portions of meat, eggs and vegetables, served in many resorts.

Markets

Going back to the early 1960s, artisans, painters and designers all flocked to the island to experience it’s unique atmosphere, light and freedom of expression. As a result, markets selling handmade items of quirky jewellery, clothing and artifacts can be found across the island.

Wherever you are staying on the island, you should be only a short drive from a themed market, bringing you items from exotics places like South America, India and Indonesia.
