From beautifully ancient buildings to caves running under the city, Limoges offers a number of stunning contrasts for you to explore. You can learn all about how it became the big name in porcelain, shop at the bustling markets or head to the gorgeous Cathedral Saint-Etienne. So long as you have your hire car, you'll have no trouble getting around.

Nearby Limoges

One place you need to head to if you're in Limoges is the Quartier de la Boucherie. Here you'll find wonderfully picturesque ancient streets, lined with timber houses and boutique shops. It is the ideal place to really take in the history of the city, although it's worth noting that you'll need to park up close by to explore the area.

Longer drives

Just over an hour away from Limoges is Lac de Vassivière. The perfect option for a relaxing day, the lake is one of the largest artificial bodies of water in France. Here you can take a swim, unwind on the beach or enjoy some watersports.

You can also head to another French city if you don't mind a longer drive, with Bergerac being just over two hours avay via the A20 and A89.

Eating and drinking

As with any location in France, you'll find delicious food in Limoges.
