Important car hire information

Liverpool is a popular city in the north of England filled with culture and a hugely popular music scene.

By hiring a car, not only can you explore what Liverpool has to offer, you can also explore the many exciting towns and cities nearby.

The main roads from Liverpool are the M62, which goes east to Manchester, and M53, which heads south into Chester. In addition, the M6 is nearby and goes north all the way to the Scottish border.

Being such a large and popular city, there are a great number of hire car providers in Liverpool, so search for the most competitive prices using our website. All of these bookings come with 24/7 support, giving you peace of mind that you can relax and truly enjoy your holiday.

And with so many vehicles to choose from, why not treat yourself to something a bit more sporty? There's also a great range of family vehicles including people carriers if you're planning a big trip. If your needs change though you don't need to worry, as you also get free cancellation and amendments on your booking.

You'll find the car hire providers in different locations throughout the city, but all can be reached either by a short walk or by jumping in a taxi - which can be very cheap in Liverpool. Most are near to the city's main train station though, Liverpool Lime Street, so you can easily get there in just a few minutes.

If you're flying into the city, then most suppliers also service Liverpool airport (LPL) too, with car hire desks based in the arrivals hall, on the ground floor of the short-stay parking area.

Having been the birthplace of The Beatles, Liverpool has a vibrant musical past. Whether you're a fan or not, a trip to The Beatles Story museum and the Cavern Club are perfect for an insight into the cultural history of the area.

A walk along the docks is also popular, especially on a sunny day, while in the city you can find a great collection of museums and galleries to explore.

There's also a range of different shopping areas, featuring everything from high street stores to vintage and independent boutiques.

Liverpool is surrounded by some amazing northern cities, so having a hire car gives you the opportunity to visit as many of them as possible.

Just under an hour away along the M62 is Manchester, probably the most well-known city in the north of England - and not just for its football. The city boasts some stunning historic and contemporary architecture, from the newly refurbished John Rylands Library to the iconic Hilton Tower.

Alternatively, head 40 minutes south on the M53 to Chester, a popular northern market town. The city retains much of its original building work, as well as a great choice of tea rooms, cafes, galleries and independent shops that you can visit, all of which add to the charm of the area.

To explore even more of England, why not drive an hour and a half north on the M6 to the Lake District? This is England's largest National Park, and is also home to Scafell Pike, the country's highest mountain and Wastwater, its deepest lake.

The entire area is filled with lakes and mountains, as well as a number of beautiful towns and villages that host a variety of markets, traditional inns and local art galleries.

Alternatively, just under two hours south of Liverpool along the M6 is Birmingham, a large city in the Midlands. This is the perfect place if you're looking for some retail therapy, as it's home to a number of different shopping centres, as well as a variety of vintage stores and independent boutiques that sell unique and handmade goods.

Being a popular city for students, there are also a number of much more lively bars and clubs, so you really can choose anything that you fancy.

The museums and galleries are some of the most popular places to visit in Liverpool, including the Merseyside Maritime Museum, The Beatles Story, Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum.
