Where to pick up my car

The majority of Catania car hire desks can be found on the ground floor of the airport's two-storey terminal building, but it's best to ask for assistance upon arrival so you know exactly where to collect your vehicle and you can be on the open road in no time.

Alternatively, an hour north-east is the awesome Alcantara Gorge, where you can go walking and even body-rafting if you're adventurous.

Eating and drinking

You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink in Catania, as there is an array of bars and eateries around the castle and Piazza Bellini. Make sure you try the delicious fresh fish from the nearby ports and the local speciality Arancino, a rice croquette filled with meat in cheesy tomato sauce.

Things to do

There is lots to explore in Catania, with retail therapy aplenty available on the Via Etnea shopping avenue.
