Things to do

Arbury Hall, a local Grade I-listed stately home, provides a lovely day out for all the family. Author George Eliot was born here on one of the estate farms in 1819 and the hall remains a residence to this day for the Viscount Daventry. The hall and its gardens are open to the public on set days throughout the year.

Sightseeing

Middlemarch creator George Eliot was one of the town's most famous residents and there is a statue of her in Newdegate Square, as well as an exhibition on her life at the Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery. The local hamlet of Milby also featured prominently in her novels, so a visit to its parish church is a must for Eliot fans.
