With a rich maritime history, there are plenty of museums and buildings in Medway showcasing the region’s naval connections. The Historic Dockyard Chatham, was the birthplace of many famous vessels including Nelson's flagship HMS Victory and visitors can enjoy a tour of the iconic landmark.

A number of seaside towns are within easy driving of distance of Medway - so ideal for a getaway. Consider heading to Camber Sands, where the vast beach is perfect for kite flying.

Things to do

Rochester has strong links to writer Charles Dickens and many of the buildings featured in his works can still be seen today. Head to Gillingham's Royal Engineers Museum to get up close to some fascinating military items. The attraction has an impressive display of tanks, jump jets and even exhibits that date back to the Battle of Waterloo.
