Where to go

Flying to Exeter Airport brings you within reach of some of England's most beautiful scenery along the Devon and Cornwall coasts. Exeter itself dates back to the Roman era, so there's hundreds of years of history to see - or you could just kick back at one of the region's pristine beaches.

Nearby Exeter Airport

Exeter Airport gives you easy access to the beautiful scenery of the English Riviera, with it's multitude of sandy beaches. Further inland, there's the East Devon and Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while the national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are also around half an hour away.

Longer drives

If you want to hit the waves, Newquay - the UK's surf capital - is about an hour-and-a-half's drive to the west. As well as some stunning beaches, the town is a hub for fishing and whale watching trips. The beautiful spa town of Bath is also around two hours away along the M5.

Eating and drinking

No trip to Exeter would be complete without enjoying a famous Devon cream tea. Stop off at one of the many cafes in the area for scones topped with locally-made jam and clotted cream. Just remember that in Devon, you spread the cream first, then the jam, not the other way around.

Things to do

Exeter Airport is just a few miles away from the Jurassic Coast, a Unesco World Heritage Site where 185 million years of history have been exposed by coastal erosion. See if you can find a fossil along this 95-mile coastline, or enjoy the amazing shapes sculpted by nature into the red Triassic rock cliffs around Sidmouth.

Sightseeing

One of the most attractive areas of the city of Exeter, the quayside is a fascinating blend of the old and the new, where industrial history, fascinating architecture and an eclectic mix of pubs, cafes and restaurants sit side by side. Arrange a relaxing boat trip, or just sit by the dock and watch the world go by.
