Nearby Chichester

Less than half an hour away via the A27 is the city of Portsmouth. The port city is home to a UK naval base and this is evident due to the number of military-themed museums and historical attractions, including Lord Nelson's flagship, the 18th-century HMS Victory. There's also plenty of culture, food and shopping to enjoy in Portsmouth.

Longer drives

For a slightly more relaxed day out beside the seaside, take the M27 and A31 to Poole. This beautiful Dorset town offers stunning views of its harbour, as well as a great beach at Poole Bay. You can also enjoy a walk along the South West Coast Path, which is the longest waymarked long-distance footpath in England.

Eating and drinking

You'll find a great selection of local establishments in Chichester that make use of produce grown in the area. Enjoy an afternoon tea at a quaint little cafe or some hearty meals at one of the traditional pubs. If you want to cook for yourself, you'll also find several farm shops close by so you can enjoy local produce for every meal.
