Few sights can be more thrilling than a 17th century battle, and you can see a reenactment of this at the ruins of Basing House, which was once the largest private house in Tudor England, but was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell during the English Civil War. The grounds of the house feature beautiful gardens, as well as a maze.
