From Dubai International Airport you can be in the centre of Dubai in a matter of minutes if you are travelling by car. From here you can head to the beaches for some sunbathing or surfing, up one of Dubai's many skyscrapers for excellent views, or to waterparks such as Aquaventure.

Around 150 km along the coast is Abu Dhabi, the UAE that is also home to an impressive collection of skyscrapers and tourist attractions. Ras al-Khaimah, an emerging tourist destination, is 102 km to the north.

The observation deck at the Burj Khalifa offers unparalleled views of Dubai, while the Palm Islands, a group of three islands off the coast of Dubai, are a fantastic man-made spectacle.
