Car hire at Turin Airport

Turin Airport (TRN) is sometimes known as Turin-Caselle Airport and also Sandro Pertini Airport, but however you refer to it, it’s the gateway to the Piedmont region of Italy. Situated 16 km from the city of Turin, the drive along the Raccordo Autostradale Torino – Caselle road should take less than half an hour.

What I need to know

With around a dozen companies to choose from, Turin Airport car rental offers plenty of choice. You can opt for anything from a mini to a minivan and find the right car at the right price for you. Compare car hire with Holiday Autos’ site to ensure you get the best deal to suit your needs.

Where to pick up my car

The majority of Turin Airport car hire firms have a presence in the terminal. The desks are found in the arrivals lounge or multi-storey car park, so be sure to check which location the company you go for uses. The remaining firms offer meet and greet services to get you where you need to be to pick up your car.

Car Hire Reviews Turin Airport

  • “The pick-up was easy, it took 5 minutes from arriving at the desk to driving out the car, and the return took even less time.”

Where to go

As a post-industrial city, you may think Turin will lack in culture, but that is certainly not the case. The former factory district of Parco Dora is now an outside space, used as a skatepark and venue for concerts. Barriera di Milano is awash with artists’ studios and has a really creative vibe about it.

Nearby Turin Airport

Not far from Turin Airport is Rivoli, a commune that has been in existence since the first century and as such, has a lot of history for you to explore. Rivoli Castle sits atop a hill and, as well as the stunning views, you’ll find the Museum of Contemporary Art inside.

Longer drives

In just under two hours, you can drive from Turin Airport to Milan, the city internationally recognised as the global capital of fashion. If you would prefer to experience the port city of Genoa, as opposed to shopping in designer boutiques, then drive for two hours in the opposite direction.

Eating and drinking

Turin is home to some historic cafes, making indulging in cappuccinos and sweet treats the kind of experience you should not miss during your stay. Other Piedmontese specialities antipasti and rice dishes, such as risotto and a black rice called venere nero, so be sure to give them a try.

Things to do

Find out about Turin’s influence on cinema at the National Cinema Museum or find yourself transported to another continent at the Egyptian Museum. Indulge in an aperitif in the city that claims to have invented the slow drink or opt for a chocolate and hazelnut creation, as it is said that it was the people of Turin who first popularised this combination.

Sightseeing

Pass some time enjoying the various statues and fountains that are dotted about the impressively large Piazza Castello during your time in Turin. The city is also home to some noteworthy churches and a cathedral, which is where you will find the Turin Shroud. Whether or not you believe that it was used in the burial of Christ, it is certainly worth seeing.
