Where to go

Rhodes is one of the most visited islands in Greece - and for good reason. Its beaches are unrivalled and the weather is typically very warm and sunny. There are numerous archaeological sites to wander around and lively nightlife available for those who want it, or tranquil resorts for families that don't.

Nearby Rhodes Airport

There's so much to see in Rhodes, including the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in Rodos. This ancient city is less than half an hour's drive from the international hub. Even closer is the charming village of Paradisi, where you can walk around exotic gardens once brought to the island by the Arabs. A little further afield is Faliraki, which is perfect for party animals.

Longer drives

Much of Rhodes is reachable in less than an hour by road, but you can venture a little further for even more tourist offerings. The fishing village Pefkos has an award-winning beach and lots of bars and restaurants, while Lindos is simply stunning and watched over by a fantastic ruined hilltop acropolis.

Eating and drinking

You'll be spoilt for choice for eateries in Rhodes, whether you want taverns by the sea or elegant gourmet restaurants. Don't miss the delicious fresh fish and local wine, whichever you select. For drinking, there's Hippocrates Square in Rodos, romantic bars in Lindos or vibrant clubs in Faliraki.

Things to do

Once you've had your fill of sunbathing, definitely try some outdoor pursuits in Rhodes, whether it's snorkelling, diving, climbing Mount Attavyros or walking in the gorgeous Valley of the Butterflies. You can also shop for locally-produced ceramics, olive oil, wine and umbrellas.

Sightseeing

Rhodes's archaeological attractions are plentiful and unmissable. Check out the Castle of Monolithos, the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes and the acropolis in Lindos, to name but a few. Take the chance to wander some of the many cobbled streets for typical Greek views and photo opportunities too.
