The medieval Moorish Castle is a 15-minute drive from the airport, while nearby St Andrew's Church provides a brilliant juxtaposition in the form of a traditional Scottish church in the Mediterranean.
Longer drives
The glamorous resort of Marbella is just an hour and 20 minutes' drive from Gibraltar Airport; keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of a superyacht in the harbour. Two hours, 45 minutes from the airport is Granada, situated at the bottom of the Sierra Nevada mountains and full of glorious medieval architecture.
