Where to pick up your car

You can either pick your vehicle up from Paphos airport (PFO) or from the city centre. If you'd like to collect your hire car as soon as your flight lands, then you can find the supplier desks in the arrivals hall. Alternatively, for suppliers not based here, you can use the free shuttle bus.

Where to go

Being a popular tourist destination, it should come as no surprise that the beaches are a popular attraction in Paphos. You can either choose one of the quieter beaches for a relaxing day sunbathing, or head to one of the busier ones where you can enjoy a range of water sports.

With 12 museums, Paphos is also a hub for culture. Head to the Paphos District Archaeological Museum, Byzantine Museum or the Ethnographical Museum. You can also see the ancient ruins at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.

Nearby Paphos

Being a relatively small island, you can easily reach almost any destination in Cyprus that you wish to visit.

Just an hour north of Paphos along the B7 is Poli, a small town on the north-west coast and on the border of the Akamas peninsula nature reserve. This is where you can visit the Baths of Aphrodite, which boasts a magnificent view of the Bay of Polis.

If you're keen to explore more of Cyprus' inland locations, then why not head just over an hour north-east of to reach Paphos Forest? Although not in the city of Paphos, it is in the Paphos region, which is how it has its name.

This area is the most important in Cyprus for nesting raptors, as well as supporting the highest number of breeding Bonelli's eagle and Goshawk.

If you're looking to see the livelier side of Cyprus, then why not head just under two hours east of Paphos to Ayia Napa? If you're looking to explore the culture of Cyprus even more, then two hours north-east of Paphos is Kyrenia. This city is particularly well-known for its historic harbour and castle, which is home to the famous Shipwreck Museum.

Eating and drinking

The food in Cyprus is very similar to Greek and Turkish cuisine, with gyros, stifado and souvlaki being favourites.

You'll find that many places offer mezze-style food, including dips such as tzatziki, tahini, taramasalata and hummus. In addition, kebabs are often served, which tend to include chunks of meat or fish on a skewer seasoned with olive oil, oregano, and lemon.

You'll find it possible to get English food in the areas that are more heavily populated by tourists.

Depending on where you are will depend on how lively the nightlife is. There is no shortage of pubs and bars to enjoy, and certain areas of the city have clubs for those looking for a night out.

Things to do

You certainly won't be short of things to do on your trip to Paphos. Boat tours are particularly popular, some of which take you to see the extraordinary sea life.

If you're a fan of horses, then you can also head up to Eagle Mountain Ranch to take a tour of the area on horseback.

The Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark is also a great day out, with a great variety of slides for you to choose from, and dedicated areas if you're taking younger children.

There's plenty of beautiful places to see in Paphos, and it's particularly popular for its stunning architecture. Take in the history of the area at Kato Paphos Archaeological Park or Ayios Neophytos Monastery, or go and see the beautiful Church of Agia Kyriaki. You can also explore the Tombs of the Kings and St Paul's Pillar nearby.

Coral Bay is a stunning beach in Paphos, and certainly one of it's most popular. It doesn't get as busy as Nissi Beach, so if you're looking for something a bit more tranquil then this is the place to go.
