Hiring a car in Larnaca

Larnaca is a city on the south coast of Cyprus, and is most popular for Finikoudes Beach. By hiring a car, you can not only explore the stunning sights of this city, but head across the rest of the country and immerse yourself in its true Spanish culture.

The main roads in Larnaca are the A3, which heads north-east to Ayia Napa and the A1, which starts in Nicosia, passes Larnaca and then goes south-west to reach Limassol.

What you need to know

You'll find a number of different car hire providers in Larnaca, so search on our booking engine to find the most competitive deal.

You can choose almost any vehicle, and the 24/7 support, free cancellation and free amendments mean that you don't need to worry if your circumstances change, while the well-known providers leave you reassured that you're in good hands.

Where to pick up your car

You can either pick your vehicle up from Larnaca airport (LCA) or from the city centre.

You'll find the car hire supplier desks in the arrivals hall of the airport, and those without desks provide a free shuttle bus to reach your vehicle.

Alternatively, if you'd prefer to collect your car in the city, then you'll find most of the suppliers based close to the beach. Enjoy a short stroll in the sun to reach the offices, or jump in a taxi and easily get there within a few minutes.

Where to go

Larnaca is popular for its beaches, which are considered to be the most beautiful on the island of Cyprus.

If you're looking for something quite lively, then head to Mackenzie beach, which has buzzing bars lining the waterfront. If you're a keen scuba diver or are looking to enjoy some lessons, then this is also a perfect site for diving, with the MS Zenobia shipwreck just off shore.

To take in some of the area's historical culture, pay a visit to the ninth-century Church of St Lazarus, which contains the tomb of this saint who, legend says, rose from the dead.

Nearby Larnaca

Just 45 minutes east along the A3 is Ayia Napa, one of Cyprus' most lively areas. If you're looking to chill out then this probably isn't the place for you, but to enjoy some of the island's liveliest bars and beaches then this is the place to be.

Alternatively, 45 minutes east down the A1 is Limassol, one of the island's largest cities. Although the area is fairly contemporary, catering well for tourists, you can still see some of the city's protected ancient monuments, including Limassol Castle, the Amathus Ruins and the Mosque of Djami Kebir.

Longer drives

Your hire car gives you the freedom to explore as much or as little of Cyprus as you wish, and being a relatively small island, you can reach anywhere that you want within just a few hours.

Poli, on the north coast of Cyprus, is just two hours from Larnaca along the A1 and A6. This is where you'll find the stunning Baths of Aphrodite, which are surrounded by wildflowers and offer beautiful views over the Bay of Polis.

Also, just an hour and a half from Larnaca is Paphos, another of the most well-known and popular destinations in Cyprus.

Paphos is filled with culture, boasting 12 museums including the Paphos District Archaeological Museum, Byzantine Museum and the Ethnographical Museum. Much like the rest of Cyprus, the area also has stunning beaches that you won't want to miss out on.
