North Cyprus prides itself on being different to the more tourist-centric south of the island, offering a more distinctive and authentic taste of life in south-east Europe.

We should stress that North Cyprus is not a sovereign state or a member of the UN in its own right, with only Turkey recognising it as an independent nation following the invasion in 1974.
