Playa la Fustera

Head north-east from Alicante and you’ll find the sandy beach of Playa la Fustera. This small, quiet beach is a perfect retreat for families or couples, with the Cova de la Fustera (Fustera cave) nearby. The 10-metre-high cave provides a vantage point for picturesque views of the coastline.

Playa del Portet

Another quiet beach near Alicante is Playa del Portet to the north. A short drive to Moraira – a beautiful upmarket coastal town – and you’ll be within a stone’s throw from this calm, welcoming beach.

Golden sands gently slope towards the idyllic warm water, perfect for a dip in the Costa Blanca Sunshine. This gorgeous beach near Alicante is surrounded by lush green mountains and a number of restaurants and bars for some post-beach food and drinks.

Playa de l’Ampolla

Visitors to Moraira are also treated to the stunning beach of Playa de l’Ampolla. Moraira’s largest beach is filled with soft golden sands, backed by palm trees. Rock pools are perfect for the kids, with countless fish swimming freely in the clear blue water.

There’s plenty of parking by the beach, with playgrounds, bars and restaurants in abundance. Even better, the famous castle of Moraira sits just to the left of the beach as you look out to sea.

Playa de la Granadella

Continue driving around 30 minutes beyond Moraira and you’ll be rewarded with the stunning cove beach of Playa de la Granadella.

Situated between two rocky peninsulas, the stony beach is flawlessly peaceful, with gorgeous blue waters calmly flowing out ahead. That’s exactly why it’s popular for divers and snorkelers.

A restaurant just behind the beach provides the perfect place to fill up before or after you hit the Granadella.

Cala Pinets

On the coast of Fanadix sits the Cala Llobella beach. However, continue down the Carrer dels Pinets and you’ll discover the magical Cala Pinets. This small bay is backed by pine trees which almost meet the sea. If you’re looking for somewhere to unwind and relax, or just take a dip in the sea, this is the perfect spot to set up for the day.

Cala del Portixol

Cala del Portixol offers something truly unique near Alicante. The beach is located on the easternmost point of the Costa Blanca, pointing out towards the island of Ibiza. But it’s the surroundings that set it apart. Natural crops and vegetation border the beach, with the Island of Portixol providing spectacular views.

Just a few hundred metres away, the 8-hectare island is packed full of its own archaeological and botanical sights. Relax on the beach, go swimming in the sea or even find a local guide for accompanies dives our tours around the island.

Playa de Poniente

If you’re looking for something lively, but not as Brit-central as the Levante beach in Benidorm, the Poniente offers a slightly less crowded option.

Playa de Poniente offers over 3 kilometres of golden sands stretching along the coast near Alicante. Packed full of bars and restaurants, the promenade is the ideal place to spend a day on the coast.

Best of all, the beach is cleaned every day – which is partly why the locals love it!

Playa Lisa

Fine sands and tranquil blue waters are available in abundance at Santa Pola’s Lisa beach. Playa Lisa has plenty of room for families, couples or just groups of friends, with windsurfers and kitesurfers known to frequent the beach for its great waves.

For you, that means a great show throughout the day, while you relax in the beautiful Spanish sun. While you’re there, try some of the local seafood, which Santa Pola – south of Alicante – has become so famous for.

Guardamar beaches

Driving from Alicante means you’re not limited to the beaches close by. A short 40-minute drive brings you to Guardamar del Seguara – a beach-lovers haven. With a sandy beach stretching over 10 kilometres down the coast, there’s plenty of space and plenty of variety for visitors.

The stretch is split into several beaches, each with their own unique appeal. Playa La Roqueta is great for the kids, while Montcaio is the more secluded and peaceful. Try Camp beach if sunbathing is your thing, or Babilonia beach to see the beautiful beachfront villas.

Playa Centre is the town’s central beach, which has all the shops nearby. It’s also located next to the attractive Reina Sofia park, which is renowned for its peacocks, turtles and other wildlife, along with an abundance of ornate tiles at every turn.

Playa Las Marinas

Just an hour north of Alicante by car is the wonderful town of Dénia. The delightful boasts around 15 kilometres of beach in total, with Playa Las Marinas as our pick of the bunch.

On this pleasant, family-friendly beach, you can enjoy gorgeous shallow waters and a wealth of fine sand with beach beds on hand to soak up the sun.

When the wind picks up, this is another spot that’s great for kitesurfing and windsurfing – so be ready for a few flips and tricks. Just beyond the beach, you’ll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops for food, sun-cream or just a souvenir.
