Where to go

Zurich is the home to many wonderful museums and art galleries, notably the Swiss National Museum and the Kunsthaus.

The city also boasts world-class shopping facilities and wonderful architecture, in particular the landmark Grossmünster, a cathedral that dates back to the 12th century.

Nearby Zurich

Visitors to Zurich should make a point of heading to the famous Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate factory in Kilchberg.

Car hire drivers can also explore the city of Lucerne, which is less than an hour away down the A4 and A14.

Longer drives

It takes about an hour and a half to drive from Zurich to Switzerland's capital city Bern, as it is just down the A1.

Car hire drivers should also make a point of exploring beautiful mountainous regions such as the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Bernese Oberland, home of the famous Eiger, the Mönch and Jungfrau mountains.

Eating and drinking

All tastes and dietary requirements are more than catered for in Zurich, but it's well worth taking the opportunity to sample some authentic Swiss delicacies, such as its world-famous cheese and chocolate.

Things to do

Zurich has a host of truly world-class museums and galleries so it's well worth taking the time to explore them properly.

The Kunsthaus gallery, for instance, showcases works dating back from the 15th century right up until the present day.

Among the works on display are pieces by famous names including Munch, Picasso, Warhol, Monet and Rodin.

Sightseeing

You can't come to Switzerland without venturing to charming spots such as Lake Lucerne to see the true beauty of the Swiss Alps.

Lake Zurich is another highlight and one that is located close by, and ideal if you want to enjoy a city break but take in some picturesque routes without venturing too far away.
